How To Make Red Velvet Cookies With Cream Cheese Frosting

Ingredients

For the frosting
  • 113 Cream Cheese
  • 57g Butter
  • 210 Icing Sugar
  • Vanilla

How to make the cookies

Start by mixing your butter and sugar together until combined. Now it’s time to add in your egg, vanilla and red food colouring if you use this one you only need a small amount to get the colour pay off. I use a stand mixer when making my cookies but if you don’t have one you can use an electric whisk and bowl. If you have been thinking about a stand mixer I definitely think they’re worth it makes baking so much easier. 

Once the red food colouring is all combined evenly throughout the mixture it’s time to add in your flour, cocoa powder and baking powder. 

Once combined roll the cookies out into equal size balls but make 1 cookie smaller as this is what we will use to crumble on the top for decoration. Once all cookies have been rolled out you want to put them in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before baking them.

To bake preheat the oven to 180 and bake for 12 minutes.

How to make the cream cheese frosting

In a bowl mix together your cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy. Add in your vanilla and icing sugar and mix again until all combined. 

Now that your cookies have cooled its time to decorate. Cover each cookie with an even layer of cream cheese frosting. Do this to every cookies except for the smaller one, with this one you want to crumble it into small pieces and sprinkle it on top of the other cookies.
